I was thinking about how fast technology changes, as soon as you have something figured out, something better comes along. I don't know why but I was thinking about a friend in high scool that had one of the first VCRs. It was a beta and absolutely huge, but it was so cool to be able to watch unedited movies. Here are some pictures that show the evolution of the VCR.

Oh wow! I remember those Beta players. My parents had one (a Sony) and I remember it costing some outrageous amount of money ($800?). VHS finally did it in, based soley on cost, since the Beta was so much better in quality. Reminds me of the recent HD/BluRay wars.
Do you remember the laserdisc players? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laserdisc
