Learn and Play @ CML

Does anyone remember when you could not even open a second window on these PCs? When I first started working at the library CML was using The Library Channel on public PCs to access the internet. It's hard to believe but that wasn't that long ago. The internet continues to grow and has become so much more than just web sites. The Learn and Play program offers staff a fun way to explore some of this technology while at work. Not only can you play at work you can win prizes! So stay tuned for more information about this program and the incentives.

You're right. I remember those times. I'm looking forward to learning new things.

I remember helping to collect the sites we linked to Library Channel. I remember all the kerfuffle over whether we should be able to e-mail outside of CML, or whether that was even necessary!

One thing hasn't changed, though (although I think we get better at it as time goes on), we're still trying to figure out what our customers need before they need it, and we're still talking about finding ways to keep our own knowledge relevant. This is a great step to keeping ourselves in the game.

I remember those days too. During Library Channel days, I was a Tech LTA at a regional. Sometimes it was like being on computer patrol..running kids off games and others off of Email. My, how times have changed....

I remember those days... I remember them well... In one way it is a reminder of where we have been, and how far we've come. Library 2.0 is here--it's now... and boy are we in for a ride....

My first encounter with Library Channel was as a customer. I needed to access the Internet, and had to play with the computer for about 10 minutes before I figured out how to get rid of the Library Channel and get to Internet Explorer. Should I have been kicked off for that?

Oh yes, I remember the "Cyber Sweatshop." Lots of PSD folks typing away in that storage room!
